monthly meeting speakers

Amie Haun, CPA, CMA, CFE, EMBA 

Amie is an experienced and well educated business professional.  She has over 25 years of business experience, a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration double major - Accounting & Finance from UTC, and an Executive MBA from Auburn University.  She is a Certified Public Accountant (CPA), Certified Management Accountant (CMA), and a Certified Fraud Examiner (CFE).  

Amie currently holds the position of lecturer in the area of Accounting within the College of Business at the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga.  She has instructed/instructs the following courses to date: Accounting Policy CPA Exam Prep class, Accounting Information Systems, Advanced Managerial, Budgeting, Essentials of Financial Statements, Forensic Accounting, Principles of Accounting I – Financial, and Principles of Accounting II - Managerial.  She has developed and launched 3 online courses to date, all of which have received “Quality Matters” certification.  At UTC she has served on the Integrated Studies Committee and the Technology Committee.  Currently she is the Accounting Advisory Board Marketing Committee chair and occasionally serves on departmental honors thesis committees.  She was fortunate to work with Dr. Anne Wilkins on a project that was published in The CPA Journal in October 2014 - "Reframing the discussion on Internal Control - Implications of the updated COSO Framework for Small and Entrepreneurial Organizations".

From 1992 to 2005 Amie Haun was instrumental in developing Southern Tool Steel, Inc., a Chattanooga based metals and plastics distributor, into a dynamic multi-million-dollar operation.  She was significantly involved in all aspects of daily operations.  Amie was the key operational manager and the main source of company development within all departments encompassing: Sales, Purchasing, Inventory Control/ Data Entry, Accounting, Finance, Shipping and Receiving Operations, H/R Administration, Supply Chain Management and Operations. 

Amie currently serves on the board of the local chapter of the Association of Certified Fraud Examiners, and holds the organizations seat on the City of Chattanooga Audit Committee. She has served as an officer and board member in the past for the Lookout Mountain Conservancy. She and her family reside in Lookout Valley. 

Amie is truly passionate about business.  Her current areas of interest are Fraud Risk Management, Internal Controls, Forensic Accounting, and Governmental Accounting. She is in the process of applying to UTC’s Master’s in Public Administration program.
